Virginia is teetering on the knife's edge of becoming a blue state. If Democrats take over in the long term, we will see:
- More rising energy costs - Democrats and my opponent will continue a green energy push that is already skyrocketing energy prices
- More taxes
- More rural land taken for wind turbines and solar farms - my opponent called our mountains "unproductive" in his push for wind turbines coming to Botetourt County in 2025, no land in the district is safe from these green energy project pushes. These projects require significant land usage and support roads, temporary concrete factories, road changes, and eminent domain style easements on private land to bring turbines in. There's no question my opponent will push more of these projects throughout the rural district.
- More gun control - assault weapons bans, more carry limits, more reaching into your home to dictate firearm storage, more war declared against gun shops, etc.
- More racism, division, and marxism in schools instead of career focused education and patriotism.
- More compassion for known violent criminals and more laws to be enforced against your peaceful family.
The best way to keep Virginia from becoming a Blue state controlled by a few heavy Urban areas is to recruit more young people to the conservative cause of liberty and small government. Colleges have become factories for leftist indocrination. When I was studying engineering, I was required to take elective classes that ended up being Marxist and/or and a communist class from a proud communist. All 3 classes were nothing but propaganda designed to shape young minds in exchange for a good grade.
I will continue working to make sure that conservative groups are in every school in the district. I will also work to reinstate and become a mentor for conservative groups in local colleges. For example, Turning Point USA's chapter at Virginia Tech shut down in ~2022. I will bring it back and make sure it has staying power.
Turning Point USA does a GREAT job of teaching young people about conservative principles. The Leadership Institute also provides free classes for becoming politically active, making persuasive arguments, and running campaigns.
Additionally, there are several ways in which urban interests currently control rural ones, these are just a few:
- Transportation - Urban areas ultimately impose emissions requirements, pedestrian safety requirements, and complicate the design of vehicles to the point that they are significantly more expensive to buy, diagnose, maintain, and repair. Our vehicles in Rural areas should be allowed to be different than Urban ones to the point that they are less expensive, easier to work on, and withstand deer impacts without totaling the vehicle. We also don't want to shift to all electric vehicles in 10 years like Governor Northam wanted to.
- School requirements - To be blunt, elected officials from Loudon County have little to no idea how life is in rural counties. When they make state wide school requirements for staffing, reporting, or any other area, they are doing so from a district with a high population and the most wealthy residents in the nation. Their problems are very different from ours. It will be my job to make sure our schools are protected from their unrealistic expectations so we can let our teachers teach.
- Gun Control - Urban people have a completely different lifestyle than us. They live in communities and HOAs where shooting from their porch isn't legal. They don't understand the need to have a rifle at the ready when a raccoon is chasing chickens. They don't understand the need for thermal scopes to dispatch coyotes that are trying to kill calves in the night. They don't understand how we can shoot deer and feed our families from our own land. Depending on interpretation of current law, they think you should get up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine if you allow your children access to a firearm for shooting pests and threats. This is one of those areas where Urban people do not respect OUR culture. I go to make sure that they do.
